Zenos Media is a creative arts organisation that promotes, supports and encourages the use of creativity in Christian faith contexts. We are an Australian not-for-profit company.
What’s in a name?
Zenos Media is a name derived from the Greek word Xenos which means stranger. It is used in passages such as Matthew 25 where Jesus says that welcoming a ‘stranger’, ‘a fellow disciple’ is like welcoming him. The heart of our initiative is to invite fellow disciples to a space where they can both be served and serve others by acknowledging and encouraging the creative gifting of God’s people.
Our History
The concept for Zenos Media arose in response to several needs. We recognised that there are:
Limited opportunities for creative professionals to work within the Christian context.
No direct avenues for ministry leaders/teachers to find and appropriately licence certain types of creative content (especially Australian made visual or poetic content)
Need for creative initiatives that integrate creativity in faith contexts
Need for more Australian made Christian creative content.
Between 2019-2022, Zenos Media was a trading name of the company ‘Castle Dweller Studios’ which also owns the animation company ‘Blue Bandicoot Studios’. During this time, Zenos Media produced content for many Christian organisations whilst also creating their own animations, videos, films, photography, illustrations, print and creative programs. These will soon become part of Zenos Media’s Library of resources.
Where are we up to?
Zenos Media has recently become a not-for-profit company that is currently seeking charity status in order to more faithfully pursue the goal of encouraging the creative arts in the Christian sphere. We are currently run by volunteers.
During 2023 we have been redeveloping our website so that it will more effectively host digital content. The new website will be more user friendly, enable contributors to manage their own content and also provide a more powerful search tool tailor made to search for content related to specific Bible verses and themes.
Christian Beliefs
We are a non-denominational organisation whose beliefs are shaped on the life, teaching, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is God’s word, through which he reveals His truth and guides and transforms us. We uphold the Nicene Creed and the Apostle’s Creed as an articulation of our core beliefs.
